apply to integrate the chatbot into your site
Thanks for your interest in getting involved in our project! PGP is collaborating with The Allyn Family Foundation to reduce unintended pregnancies among 16-20 year old girls in Onondaga County, New York. In Onondaga County around ⅓ of all births each year are unintended. Through interviews with subject matter experts in the area, PGP found that young women are often unsure of where to find information about contraception and sexual health. Rather than searching for information on contraception proactively, many young women instead search for information when a crisis moment arises - for example, they had unprotected sex, or they missed their period and are worried about being pregnant.
About THIS Project
This project is intended to provide girls with a confidential place to find accurate, nonjudgmental information about contraception, STDs, and sexual health. Chatbots have recently begun to be used as a way of delivering personalized health information to hard-to-reach, digitally savvy populations. This project represents the first time that an organization has created a sophisticated chatbot that delivers personalized information about contraception and sexual health to girls at risk for unintended pregnancy.
integrating the bot
One way to get involved in our project is to directly integrate the chatbot into your organization’s website or Facebook social media page. There are several potential options for this type of integration. Detailed requirements for each option are outlined below.
Integration of a button into your website that links directly to chatbot website - This option would embed a small button into the organization’s website. Upon clicking this button, an individual would be redirected outside of the organization's website, to the chatbot website. For this option, The Public Good Projects will provide a code snippet that the organization will paste into their website HTML. The code would include styling for the button.
Direct integration of the chatbot into the organization’s website - This will embed the chatbot directly into the organization’s website. With this option, all chats with the chatbot will take place within the organization’s website. However, when an answer is provided that includes a link to additional resources that live on the chatbot website, (for example, if an answer includes a link to the location finder), clicking on that link will take the user outside of the organization website. This option will require that the organization have access to edit the HTML of their website. The Public Good Projects will provide a code snippet that the organization can paste into their website HTML. The code would include styling for the chatbot.
Direct integration of the chatbot into the organization’s Facebook direct messaging platform - This will embed the chatbot into the organization’s Facebook messaging system. It is important to note that this option would be the automated default response for any incoming messages through messenger. That is, if an outside individual sends a direct message to the organization’s Facebook page, the bot will automatically respond. This also requires that The Public Good Projects be granted administrative access to the organization’s Facebook page.
